You mean it should still be called a beta? Maybe, but IE8 is official 
released since 2 weeks.

Many other products should better be called "beta", too - some might say 
TYPO3, too ;-)

In every case many of us will have to deal with clients using IE8, so we 
need this compatibility update.

+1 for releases
