nice patch!

+1 by reading if you fix the comment Ernesto mentioned and add a comment 
line like this in the switch before the default:

// The fallthrough is intended as XHTML 1.0 transitional now is the 
default for the BE.

(Thus, you will make it clear when someone reads the code a few months 
later that this actually intended, and you hadn't just forgotten the break.)
