There has been a time where rtehtmlarea had a faster dev cycle then the 
Core. If the current rtehatmlarea maintainers don't plan to add new 
features before 4.2 ships we can drop the TER versions.

But... we also use the TER versions to fix security bugs of rtehtmlarea for 
TYPO3 versions where rtehtmlarea wasn't a sysext. Oh my...
