My thinking is: It is not consistent, but it works. Changing the functionality 
is not needed as there is nothing broken yet, but this _could_ be broken 
_after_ the change.

Of course I'm talking of the stable branch only. For Trunk the change is out 
of question.

But do what you prefer.
