[TYPO3-core] PHP version requirement?

You mean MySQL, right? I didn't search for MySQL yet but think that we just

Unfortunately, it seems we already raised this requirement since parts of
the EM require functions which are not available before PHP 4.2...

I will change that after we agreed on something here.

TYPO3 4.x is supposed to stay compatible with PHP < 5! That was decided by
the R&D committee when we discussed how to continue development of 4.x and
5.x. If that is not good enough, please try to provide compatibility layers
like René did with t3lib/compat_php5.php
