[TYPO3-core] CVS merge still pending

Please do NOT commit anything to HEAD until I have merged all changes from
the 3-8 branch back.

Before I do so I'm still waiting for Kaspers feedback - did you get my mail?
The changes seem to be proven since all of them are part of TYPO3 3.8.0 -
however they are not yet documented in TSref. I hope you don't need these
mails again...(?)

I'll post another message as soon as the merge is done.
