Well. I guess one could discuss this endlessly. AFAIR there is some 
requirements for patents on software that the code is not "trivial". 
Which my patch surely was.

But anyways, being so kind to give software away for free is something 
nice from every point of view. It remembers me of a poster I saw when I 
was on my Interrail tour this summer:

It's Al Pacino in "The Godfather". It looks like he is thinking:
"Ohh. I am so generous" ... what we all indeed are, as we give away our 
work others (MS) would sell for millions of Euros.
