Nack, I do think that the TS delivered with TYPO3 should be as compliant
as possible. Users will complain and even if they are clever and fix all
the stuff, your Template will grow like hell. Does anyone remember how
hard it was to make 3.5 compliant with a beta-like csc? It sucks, and we
should make all things xhtml by default. I know there's tons of
xhtml-related stuff in the bugtracker but nonetheless it should be fixed.
BUT: Do we still support content(default) and other old TS stuff? I'd
rather get rid of that today than tomorrow, and if the above problem is
fixed in csc, I'd agree with you and just say use csc.
Now, that you mention it: We should fix all the XHTML related bugs since
that should be fairly trivial. Masi was asked to provide a fix for
everything in some bug note, but I don't know how much is done already.
Another thing which maybe belongs into -dev: Do we provide conditional
stuff for things that are different in *valid* html 4 and xhtml 1.x? I
remember Sacha asked for something like that, but it seems like a lot
more work. Or can we just say: XHTML 1.0 trans is the way to go?
Greetings,
Michael
