Yes, that should be possible at some point. My wish though, is to working
version og the original planned functionality, before I start adding stuff
like that.

This is possible now, the only difference is that it is not hidden to the
user, as he has to choose the action from a workflow, and no just choose to
edit

This is like 1. The only possible problem is that the workflow get's it list
of tables that can be used from a function in the TYPO3 api, so it might
not show up in the list of avialable tables unless, some registration is
done by the news extension.
