Well - this is nothing new, it's been there for a long time but it's not
doing "workflows" in the original meaning of this term.
In fact it's just a collaboration tool to give BE users the possibility to
assign tasks to other users and check if they are keeping a defined
deadline.
A real workflow will be connected to pages, content elements and records
using clearing cycles like this:

User 1 creates a new element.
User 1 asks User 2 to proofread what he has done.
User 2 gives it back to User 1 if something is wrong.
User 2 gives it to User 3 if everything is alright.
User 3 publishes the element.

This can be done with versioning and the new workspaces.
Each user can have his own workspace while the live workspace is not touched
until the element is finally published.
Didn't test it too much though, so I can't tell you if and how things are
really working.
