[TYPO3-mvc] web services in MVC

Hello

How should I implement frontend webservices in TYPO3? as a frontend 
plugin? as a new pagetype? as a eID extension? (at this moment I'm 
considering as a eID extension) How should i do this in the MVC framework?

Today webservices are very important and common but I miss doc in TYPO3 
related to this, at least a style guide could help
