As I use Typo3 4.2.3 myself I think it works.
If I am right patch 1822 "only" gives you the posibility to see some 
more informations on some pages (eg. sys.folder with products). If there 
is nothing more than it works with 4.2.3.
Maybe you have installed the extensions in the wrong order. I had some 
problmes with other extensions.
Maybe take a look at the order in which the extensions are loaded in 
your localconf.php.
