[Typo3-shop] How to create new shop extension using tt_news instead of forking it

I found many changes concerning the multilanguage support in TYPO3 3.7.0
till now I didn't had the time to find out, what changed in detail and 
how this can be used by tt_news.

the opinion of an offical reviewer about some details in the the current 
tt_news version would also be very interesting for me.
otoh, I'm shure that some things can be solved in a more 
elegant/cgl-compliant way.
examples:
- the switching between 2 flexform sheets, to make the 
category/storagePid handling configurable. (tcp.php, tables.php)
- the way the parameters for the related News are found, and traversed 
to TS and back (function getRelated)

any ideas or comments ?
