[TYPO3-ttnews] Numeric month without leading zero

I would like to display news date in the format 1-1-2006, that is 
numeric day and month without leading zero.

I checked the documentation and there seems to be no settings for month 
without the leading zero, though there's one for a day (%e).

Please, can someone uncover the settings that would do the trick?
