Hello Thomas,

This a task that you have to approach very carefully. It is essential that you have not only a very good grasp on the Framework but also TemplaVoila and TYPO3. If not then I would hesitate doing it. Even as I give you the general approach it will need to be adapted for the particular situation and having strong experience in TV is essential navigating your particular situation.

It is very important that you you always have a current backup of you site as you work. Plus you will probably will want to make a copy of the site and do a test run first. But again always have a backup you can restore from.

My assumption is the site is already running on TemplaVoila and everything is up to date (TYPO3 & TemplaVoila).

The first order of business is to switch TV from using database data structures to using static data structures (file-based). The is a wizard for that in the TV extension in the extension manager. Keep in mind this process converts your existing DSs to static DSs and deletes the old DSs. This is particularly where a backup is essential of the site and database.

You can then install the TV Framework and a skin.

Once you have done that then I would set up a development subdomain and assign the TV Framework and skin to it. You can use it to develop the skin.

When the skin is ready, then you can assign the TV Framework and the skin to your main domain. At that point all your content will be seem to disappear, It will be found in the "unused content elements" tab in the page module. Those elements will need to be relinked. If you have a large site then you may want to do a search a replace in the DB to connect the content elements to the proper content areas.

Again, only try this if you have the proper depth of experience and backups.

Thanks,
Ron Hall
