[TYPO3-templavoila] Start - stop buttons on complete FCE, or only inside the contents ?

I found this post, but I tried the modification but I didn't see any 
start-stop buttons on my FCE even with a full clear cache.

Is there a reason why the buttons are not visible by default on an FCE ?

I tried to set a date directly in the DB and it seems to work.
