Firsts, FCEs is a special thing in TemplaVoila. There is an extension that tries to do the same without TemplaVoila. I did not try it but I doubmt it is that flexible.

Secondly, if you have to use more than four columns, you will have to install extra extensions that enable you to use more than four columns. With TemplaVoila it is seamless.

Thirdly, with point-and-click interface and pre-made templates (like andreas01 in TER), you can have site up and running very quickly without a need to write *any* TS line.

Forthly, with TemplaVoila you really separate your data from its presentation, which allows you to change presentation without a need to change data. If you ever redesigned web site completely, you know it can be painful. MTB is very close to it but not as close as TemplaVoila.
