Hello,
Nearly at the bottom of this page
http://typo3.org/documentation/doument-library/core-documentation/doc_l10nguide/current/view/1/3/
there is the mention of this 2 variables:
sys_language_mode = content_fallback
sys_language_overlay = hideNonTranslated
Without them translating does not work with templavoila.
