Do you get better results with XCache than with eaccelerator? From my
experience eaccelerator is still about 10% quicker than XCache (compared
XCache 1.2.2 debian package, with eaccelerator 0.9.5.3 from source).

One reason of this might be, that eaccelerator comes with an opcode
cache (like XCache) _and_ with some magic optimizer code foo (which is
is not implemented in XCache in 1.2.2, it just returns 0!).

Warning: Don't use eaccelerator 0.9.6-rc1, the author dropped the
optimizer to make this version compatible with php 5.3. He doesn't seem
to be able to maintain the optimizer codebase any longer. But 9.5.3 is
stable for debian lenny 5.2 packages for me and is quicker than XCache.

Greetings
Christian
