Hi all,

Yes I agree that it's good for TYPO3 branding and marketposition to do
local (national) marketing.
No I don't agree that there is no task for the Association in this. But
this might be cause I see global marketing somewhat different then
others. Like Kasper and Daniel attending/speaking @ Linuxworld is both
local and global. Me attending Gilbane Conference or CMPros Summit is
also local & global marketing. So I think they strengthen each other and
both are needed. For who is interested I wrote a piece with my views
about this earlier to this list which I have attached again.
For global marketing is not much money needed and I think we should
spend some Association money on it, lets say about 6% of the anual
budget. Creating strong UG's and local portals for the US, South
America, Australia and Asia is part of it in my view.
Imho opinion pure local marketing is simple cause al about visibility
and giving information. Just define your strategy, raise the money and
implement your strategy into action, which what is lacking untill now.
In Holland we formed a new T3 Group of volunteers and will raise money to:
- built a brand new TYPO3 portal on www.typo3.nl which is localised on
our market
- have a joined advertisement campaign on the web and in magazines
- will start our own TYPO3 merchandise shop
- will attend trade-fairs together
- organise besides the UG days a real Dutch T3 conference
- talk with an American publishing company about translation of the
'official' book but add Dutch community and consultancy information to it.

Maybe somebody can explain me what a face to face meeting can add to the
ideas and knowledge we already have?

Regards, Sander
