It's been a very interesting reading!
While Kasper was in Québec City last Autumn, we had a discussion about the
US penetration of TYPO3 and my point of view was really close to what you
explained about the "Not invented in America" syndrome...
In a way, you're confirming my assertion. It will be a hard sell in the US.
I also know that one of the negative point some consultancies, here in
Québec(Canada), invoke for not choosing TYPO3 is that they are afraid that
other consultancies could "steal" their clients since there's no string
attached with the product. All those homemade CMS made by consultancies are
guaranty for them that they will keep their customers... In a way they're
not driven by quality of service but by tie-in. I could be wrong on that one
since I'm not really on the consultancy scene but at least I've had that
impression.
One of the things that will possibly help TYPO3 a lot in the near future is
the English version of the book. A book will give credibility to the whole
project. I'm also wondering if other german books (10 on amazon.de !) will
ever get translated. Addison-Wesley and O'Reilly are behing 2 of them so
maybe there's a little hope...
