1. + 2.: no much knowledge about this.

3. TYPO3 offers many functionalities, zope is programmed (mainly) in 
python. the python community is not that big as the php-community is. 
more developers (--> as steve ballmer says: developers, developers) = 
more development = more features.

btw: I'm waiting for a book in which Zope and TYPO3 are compared to each 
other... should be here in the next days.
