Zope knows many ways of storing data, like XML and a variety of RDBMS's.
It might be possible to build some connector but generally TYPO3 is not very
flexible concerning the format and storage of it's data.

Look more deeply into the exact specs of the data you need to use in the
TYPO3 driven part and find out if these things are not within the realm of
extensions anyway. That would then set these formats apart from the core
TYPO3 stuff, which would be very advisable.

No, not yet. CMF or Plone are much simpler and TYPO3's backend is almost not
configurable. I have been discussing this matter with René in Splügen for
some time and he might come up with a solution. You could be the sponsor :-)

Out of the box features, all of them. And the growing number of extensions.
