Hi !
> 1.1 News
I don't know what you talked about it already in splügen, after my crash (and the following 2 weeks), my brain was sort of running on 20% ;-)
Anyway, I think sander was right. With the old typo3.com, there were news, and it was like "have a look at typo3.com, maybe there is some news", so I think this is not only something to inform people, but we should also use that thing to get people looking at typo3.com, and to give them something else. Or to get them. This is like getting people to come back, we should take the chance. I have no specific ideas how to use it for, I just thought it would be a good idea.
Some ideas: News could be splitted. They could be even marked, so people know after a while.
- Typo3-News: That is new releases
- Typo3-News: cooperation with whoever.
- Projects on typo3.com or case-studies: This could also be interesting for people. Well, at least it would be for me.
- I also think there is some dev-related news, which would be interesting, but which might be more interesting for the community-site. Still, it would show the decision-makers where we are: That could be contact to php in terms of gd-lib and stuff

> 1.4 Case Studies
I'll wait until you come up with the questionaire, so I know what you need. For now, I can say I am able to come up with these things:
- gruene-nrw.de, soon they will offer their Kreis- +Landersverbänden (whatever that is, departments..) a platform to manage their websites. So this is not only one website, but there will be posibillities to change layout in certain ways, to manage a lot of various websites etc...
- magix.net: Good example for big project, "huge" traffic etc., integration of custom shop etc. Maybe hosting at some point. So this is also interesting in terms of size, traffic, posibillities...
We are going to write something in german anyway, so this would be a translation, no problem.
There are others, but they might not be as interesting as the two up there, this is more like specific: development of whole projects - dev training - still support with custom solutions - ... sort of the whole pagacke but not like typo3-specific solutions.
Could be also interesting: karriere-magazin.tv: this is interesting in terms of custom elements + automatic display of content which depends on times and dates, various records connected to one central record for the time management etc...
Then we've got DAM in development. I am working on some frontend solutions every once in a while, and I am getting further. You can see parts of it on t3board.com. I think this would also be woth a case study. Not because of the solution itself, DAM, (which is not done yet anyway), more like as an example of what is possible using PHP and TS and all that.
The last thing:
As we now have a small apache-cluster, and we are going to install a real mysql-cluster soon, there will be something about the platform. This would be interesting for bigger clients so that they know to what extend typo3 can be scaled etc., in this case we'll write something as soon as the mysql-cluster is running in the live-env. So, this could also easily be adapted for typo3.com.
Tell me what you like.

> 1.5 Translation (German first as test)
I am not quite sure if this would be of any help: I can offer someone doing this maybe 2 days a week. We've got a student working for us 2-3 days a week, I can give him work if that would help to get on with it. Maybe some "marketing-speaking" person should go through it anyway, like DH or someone else capable of doing so. But it would be much faster having the text in german and just correcting it. I am not the marketing-texter, so I am not of any good help in this case I guess ;-)

I am in contact with MySQL, Zend and some others. I would like to know about your experience / thoughts about typo3 in terms of performance in general (not typo3.com). As the MySQL GmbH is open for anything in terms of improving specific things (which we don't have at this point), it might possible, that I get the same thing done with the php-side:
I got in touch with Zend to see if there is any posibillity to add their caching mechanism to typo3 somehow. The problem: If we use caching straight away, index.php will spit out the same content every time. BUT: There are posibillities to controle the whole thing via PHP. Anyway, I think this would also come up with a few benefits if it works out:
- Zend knows about typo3 in some way, maybe we can use their channels to make it public. ANd I don't mean the script-catalog. I'll come up with news as soon as I've got something.
The other thing is, there are some technical oriented magazines out there. I am in contact with one of them which is offereing 1000$ for open source, GPL, PHP projects. I think typo3 will be put into their pool as well. I also would like to write a case-study about a more complex project combined with the platform it's running on, and the special solution to make it scalable.
Anyway, I think I should get feedback from all of these within the next few days.
> 3. whatnot 2
We talked about it quite a few times, the "newspaper". I don't think there is enough content for a monthyl thing, especialy no authors which have time to write as much for it. But maybe 4-6 times a year, a newsletter/pdf/... could be send. THat should hold collected news of .com, but also references in detail if people like to write about it, opinions, thoughts, these things. And I also think .com style magazin would be big, I'd say .org style could be a few more pages. In that case, we realy could have some feedback, some summary from the community, things like that. I don't know if this is going into the right direction, and if there are detailed thoughts about it.
