[TYPO3-linux] typo3-4.x with php5 & peculiar behaviour

Hi all,

first of all I like to thanks Franz Holzinger for his suggestion.

I have installed PHP5, but "php -v" commands still shows
version-4.3.10 so I have created a symbolic link like 
" ln -s /usr/bin/php5 /usr/bin/php"
and now "php -v" shows the correct version. I have mysqld Ver
4.1.21. I can login into the admin's Backend BUT  "Ext
Manager"; "DB check"; "work space" etc are showinh just a white
page with-out error !!! more over "clear FE cache" and "clear
Typo3 cache" also makes the left panel vanish. Could any one
kindly suggest me how to fix it ?
