[TYPO3-linux] Install 4.0 on shared host

I have tried installing the tar.gz "dummy" and "typo3_src-4.0" on my shared
host. I used SSH and untared according to the install.txt in the "dummy"
distribution. I then CHMOD fileadmin/, /typo3conf/ , /typo3temp/, /uploads/
to 777. I then changed the /typo3_src/ in the 'dummy' directory to
/typo3_src-4.0/.

System info Apache version 1.3.34 (Unix), MySQL version 4.1.14-standard, PHP
version 4.4.2,

My issue is that whan I call 'www.mysite.name/dummy' I just get a listing of
the files and directories in the browser. It does not enter the install
mode.

(I have been able to install via fantastico the 3.8 version but would prefer
to self install).
