[TYPO3-linux] No pages are found on the rootlevel!

I read everything up on this issue and can't seem to get past the 
problem - pages display fine after Typo 3.8 - 4 upgrade in backend but 
in front end I get this error - I have been fiddling foe 3 days with 
this problem.......

I have deleted and re-initialised symlinks lots of time - also deleted 
DB and redeployed - what else could be the cause of this issue????

I am running a dedicated server for a client - but on Redhat 7.2 :-( 
with Mysql4+, PHP4+, Apace2

Anyone experienced this in past
