[TYPO3-linux] installing under Ensim Pro with a couple of issues

Hi, I have just downloaded typo3 and dummy to a name-based domain under
the Ensim Pro control panel running on RHEL3. I say this mainly to
point out that there are a few things that are somewhat unique to Ensim.
Then I have some feedback and a problem.
1) the webserver either setuid or setgid itself (not sure which) to that
of the site owner (eg admin13), so you do not need to chown any
subdirectories. I did go ahead and chgrp g+w but that might not be
necessary either.
2) in Ensim, you want to create the database using the site
administrator panel because it Ensim does freaky things with the
ownership of mysql directories. Also, if it is a new site, make sure
you remember to set the mysql password with the Change Password link.
3) also in Ensim, apache is configured with
Options -FollowSymlinks +SymlinksIfOwnerMatch
so make sure you don't yield to the temptation to create any links as
root.
I elected to install dummy in the root directory for the site rather
than the subdirectory cms. After the 1-2-3 part, I went on to the main
configuration page, and it complained that all of the subdirectories
under typo3temp were missing. They were not included when I asked for a
listing of the tarball contents (tar ztf dummy-4.0.tar.gz) so I was
wondering if they were supposed to be created and populated by the
installation, and if so, then why didn't I see any errors at that time?
So I took a chance and simply mkdir'ed them -- don't know if there were
any other directories or files that were supposed to be somehow
magically created underneath them.
This brings me to my problem. So everything in the Basic Configuration
is green, recommended settings in localconf.php are set, etc. I click
the "Frontend website in new window" link, and I get
Error!
No pages are found on the rootlevel!
I expected to see some kind of generic welcome to typo3 splash page. I
thought I could ignore this and start creating pages in the backend, but
so far just muddling around for a while, I still get the error.
