OK - I will try the tarballs - but why GraphicsMagick? Is it better than 
ImageMagick?

  :-) I use Putty now when I'm inside the building. When I want to 
connect from home, everything is hermetically closed! My only option is 
to connect via VPN. Maybe I can connect via VPN to some windows machine 
or will I see the Linux desktop from my XP at home, when I connect via 
VPN directly to my Linux intranet-webserver?
