Tim,

This is most likely some quirk in your Apache config, since TYPO3 does
not handle the direct requests to files in /fileadmin, it's all done
on Apache level.

How is your site configured in Apache - with virtualhost or in some
other way? Are you using mod_rewrite and
RealURL/SimulateStaticDocuments?
