updating to 4.7 at all is a bad idea as 4.7 is also out of service.

you need to update to a supported version which is 6.2 or 7.x
the way of updates from 4.4 needs one version prior to 6.0, but 4.5 
might be the better choice as there is more support for an update from 
4.5 to 6.2 than any versions between.

on the other way you need to take every step between for an update from 
4.4 to 4.7 as these versions all have big breaking changes with 
update-wizards only in that versions.
do an update to a clean 4.5 (for example: change your database to full 
utf-8 support), watch your deprecation log and clean up all messages.
