[TYPO3-english] How to prevent Distributed denial of service attacks in Typo3

Hi All,

I did experience a DDoS attack on my live typo3 website running on typo3 version 4.7.5 ,
linux build version Gentoo Base System release 2.0.3 , php version 5.3.10 and mysql version 5.1.39.  
What are the preventive measures can we take against DDoS attack in Typo3? Is there any configuration steps within the Typo3 CMS ?
What are the preventive measures/steps that can be taken in server/hosting in which the typo3 system is installed/running?
