[TYPO3-english] "New magic image" problem in tt_news

Hello list,

I've got a recently upgraded TYPO3 4.4.4 site running an older version
of tt_news where the RTE's 'New magic image' option doesn't work–the
generated source always contains an img element with an empty src
attribute. The 'New magic image' works fine in every other content
type. I've checked:

* Image processing: *everything* works
* Uploads directory: the directory is writable AND contains
appropriately resized new magic images from tt_news!

Even though the images are created, the src info of the image element
in the RTE is *immediately* lost if:

* I save the record
* I switch to HTML view in the RTE

My questions:

1. Has anybody seen this before, and did you managed to fix it?
2. Is anybody running TYPO3 4.4.4 and older tt_news versions without
this problem?
