[TYPO3-english] tt_news link target for record type "external url"

Hi group,

I've got a problem setting the link target for tt_news posts of the type
"external url". If the editors don't set any target manually, I would
like to have the target "_blank", but get "_top".
Using TYPO3 4.2.6 with tt_news 2.5.2  (and css_styled_content) with
following (maybe relevant) TypoScript constants:
styles.content.links.extTarget = _blank (this is what constant editor
says as default)
PAGE_TARGET =
content.pageFrameObj =
styles.content.links.target =

External Links in normal content elements get the desired target
"_blank" and internal links no target at all (like I want it).
Searching the archive and asking google didn't help me. Can anybody help
me or point me in the right direction?
