[TYPO3-english] pdf thumbnails how???

I have uninstalled DAM a while back - too big and labour intensive for 
the simple usage of my websites - I loved the simple structure of the 
file module and ability to limit it to a multi-site installation - 
ANYWAY - can't get my uploaded pdf's to show auto-rendered thumbnails in 
download list - I had the ability in the past and my gscript/im 
libraries in backend successfully renders pdf + ai.

I want client to upload pdf's and thumbnails in front-end view - is this 
possible with a standard download plugin
