[TYPO3] Text encoding bug in push2rss extension

Hello!

I'm using the excellent push2rss extension, which pushes records to an RSS feed according to highly customisable criteria.

Only one problem (apart from a lack of perfect integration with RealURL...): Neither of the two RSS feeds produced by the extension (UTF and ISO Latin) display non-English characters correctly. Here they are:

I believe this is a bug in the PHP of the extension, because I found the following anonymous comment in a French programmers' chatroom transcript: "Et push2rss j'ai même 
débuggé le code PHP qui merdait avec l'UTF-8 ... va falloir que j'envoie 
le source corrigé à 3ds".

I contacted the author of the extension but unfortunately haven't received a reply.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on where to look in the PHP to debug this? Or perhaps where to look in the extension producing the content which is pushed to these feeds..?
