[TYPO3] need help: "sr_feuser_register" and IMGTEXT

Hello guys,
I have some weird problems with one of our sites. This site was upgraded 
form Typo3 3.7.1 (i think) to 4.1 recently. Most of the things work as 
intended, however, we're facing some problems with the IMGTEXT and "FE 
User Register" plugins. See below:

1. sr_feuser_register (ver 2.5.6) - The problem here is that when i put 
the plugin on a page, and then view the page in BE, it always returns an 
empty page with the following error message "Parse error: parse error, 
unexpected T_STRING in 
/home/customers/kuntofi/public_html/typo3conf/ext/sr_feuser_register/locallang_db.xml 
on line 1"

2. Image or IMGTEXT - This simply do not render the images. If i change 
the compat version to 3.8, it works fine and the images are displayed. 
But, if i change the version to 4.0 or 4.1, all images disappear.

Any help with these issues will be highly appreciated :)
