[TYPO3] Indexed_search + user defined template markers

hello everybody,
i have some quick questions regarding the new version of 
indexed_search(2.9.2).

a) is there an other way to define my on template markers than to extend 
class.tx_indexsearch.php with my own ux_tx_indexsearch-class (some hook 
or so)? i would like to insert some special links and (multilanguage) 
grafics in the search form.

b) if i search the ter i cant find index_search? does anybody know why? 
(or is it just me?)
