[TYPO3] Problem setting dopctype to xhtml-transitional

Hi,

I recently upgraded my site to Typo3 4.0.2., and the doctype switched 
from <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" 
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> to <!DOCTYPE 
html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" 
<http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <?xml version="1.0" 
encoding="iso-8859-1"?>.

I have the qcom_htmlcleaner extension set to xhtml transitional and my 
template has page.config.doctype = xhtml_trans, however I still get the 
strict doctype.

Ideas, hints?
