[TYPO3] uploads folder does not exist?

Hi all is it only me or is anyone else having problems with adding images to 
uploads folder?
i have tried a few exts and always same error.
using typo3 4.0 beta2
1: The destination (x:/xxxxx/htdocs/uploads/tx_smile_quiz) or the source 
file (x:/xxxxx/htdocs/fileadmin/_temp_/movies.jpg) does not exist. 
(smile_quiz_theme:1:logo)

where x= path.
the folder does exist and image is there did notics however it is not 
looking for mories.jpg rather a xxxtemp.jpg
have had thesse problems since using 3.8.
