[Typo3] TCAdefaults.tt_content.imagecols doesnt work

Hello Typolist

if I put

TCAdefaults.tt_content {
   imagewidth = 150
   image_compression = 39
   image_zoom = 1
   imagecols = 1
}

in my UserTSconfig everything works except the imagecols...I am using 
3.7...anyone got a clue whats going wrong here?
