These kinds of problems usually arise because word processors are
sloppy, or at least hard to control with respect to their markup
(mainly because you often can't tell what style is in effect without
watching the style selector like a hawk...) The orange background
almost certainly means that the image is *inside* whatever element is
styled orange. I'm not a big fan of how the TER renders manuals, but I
strongly suspect that this problem is caused at the OpenOffice end.
You can check in OpenOffice by selecting the image and checking what
style is shown in the style selector--if it's some kind of heading (or
basically *anything*), just remove that style (set it back to "Text
body" or "default") before uploading the extension to the TER.
