[TYPO3-dev] problems with the new cmd undelete in T3 4.0

Hi folks.
I guess this is not a real bug but a kind of misconception.
While testing the new functionalities of the RC1 I tested the implementation
of the BE search as well.
I integrated "undelete" and "undelete and edit" there using the new cmd
['undelete'] in the result list display.
Now when you click on one of the buttons to undeleted an entry it is
undeleted as expected, which is fine.
But not, if the page the record belonged to before it was deleted has been
deleted too.
Example:
A whole branch of the page tree has been deleted.
If you undelete the root page of this branch everything is OK, since the
parent page is still available.
But if you undelete one of the subpages it doesn't show up anywhere in the
page tree.
There's only one possibility to get to that page again: You have to enter
the uid in the searchbox in the bottom frame of the backend.
Same thing for records with a pid pointing to a deleted page record.
This makes the undelete concept partly useless.
IMHO it would be useful to check the availability of the parent page before
undeleting and if it's deleted too make a copy of the undeleted record to a
special container page "recovered records".
This will still leave the option to undelete a complete branch including the
original records while making it possible to use single undeleted records
regardless of their former parent page.
What do you guys think?
Joey
