That would be very nice yes, I think.
But I guess you'll have a pretty hard time to integrate the ACL's. Access 
management is scattered throughout the TYPO3-core and extensions also create 
their own SQL-queries to check the permissions so getting it watertight will 
be tough...
Good luck with it though! I too think that it will be a very nice to have 
feature for TYPO3!
