I only see one advantage in Fireworks, thats not the software, it's 
partly the concept.

I find the idea to provide the image generation as a service very 
interesting. A Provider can plugin it's extension an provide a network 
based service for image generation. The API is described by Typo3.
The Provider has to implement it.
Also Webspace-Users, that have no gdlib and im/gm available could 
benefit when they send their jobs to an "Image-Service-Provider".

I know it's a little bit perverted ;)
