[Typo3-dev] Mini news and Northern Sami

Hello, all!

Hope this goes to the right list, if not, please point me to the right one:-)

I am setting up a site in Northern Sami/Swedish, using the templavoila
extension (which is really sweet, once you get the hang of it).
I use utf-8 as the input and output encoding, and Debian unstable as the
development system.

I imported the Static info tables extension, and added a record for Northern
Sami, and after some fumbling got my project to show both my Northern Sami
and Swedish content.

So far I have found two problems:

When I imported the mini-news extension I found that the swedish translations
have the language code "se", which incidentally is the IS0-639 code for
Northern Sami. I changed the swedish translations to the correct "sv" code,
and put my northern sami translations under the "se" one. That's probably a
"system wide" problem for Typo3.

The other problem is that Northern Sami uses charaters as ŧ (t slash), ŋ (eng)
and đ (d slash). These characters are found in e.g. iso-8859-10 or utf-8. The
file which has the translations for the mini-news extension is coded in
iso-8859-1 (as far as I could tell). When I had made the Northern Sami
translation, I saved the file using the utf-8 encoding, and then the Northern
Sami translation of mini-news on the webpages becomes garbled ("two times
utf-8'ed :-)")

How can I hack my way to solve the latter problem, and what is the proper
solution to these two problems?

Regards,
