[Typo3-dev] Installing extension whith SAFE_MODE

Which error actually? Can you provide the exact message together with the
name of the extension you installed?

It should at least be shown in the "available for installing" section, did
you check file permissions? If you upload files manually, apache might
not have the correct permissions (depending on the config of the server)

Generally there is no reason for installing extensions manually. It should
work
in SAFE_MODE too.
