[Typo3-debian] Problems while trying to connect to MySQL after upgrade

You dont write which version of debian you are using, but from the versions my 
guess is sarge, so then you are missing the line:

extension=mysql.so

in your /etc/php4/apache/php.ini file.
remember to restart apache afterwards.
