Dear TYPO3 Community,

TYPO3 is too big and too fast to keep up with. Hence, we present
you with Typo News, a monthly summary of TYPO3 developments and news.
This newsletter will highlight the main projects, concerns, developments and
innovations of the community. This issue, we introduce the new organisation
of the TYPO3 community - new development groups, more frequent release dates
being just the beginning.

Future issues will contain news on extensions,
sites, development to the core, activity of developer and user groups, and
more besides. If you have anything you would like to contribute, then see
the end of this newsletter for details on how to.

The Editors, TYPO3 News

################################################################
- Version 3.6-dev released - New releases to become more frequent

The new version of TYPO3 - 3.6 - was been released to developers on the
first of this month. Kasper's intention is that a backup of the core of
TYPO3 will be available all the time. Other developers can use the most
recent version and help fix bugs and add new features.

It is planned that in
future, new versions of TYPO3 will be released every two to three months.

################################################################
- Teams and Projects formed

Extensions have, since version 3.5, been one of the main ways in
which many developers could independently work on one system. The core has
always been harder to split, because of its complexity. Now, with the
forming of a number of development and working groups, the responsibility
has been taken from (the over-burdened) Kasper.

Each main group is split into smaller groups, each having specific tasks.
For example, the core group is run by Kasper and split into, among others,
Content Rendering and Profiling.

Likewise, the documentation group will, over the coming months work on the
many areas of TYPO3 which require new or revised documentation.

################################################################
- Snowboard Tour quick to fill up

The deadline for the snowboard tour payments for the initial registrants
expired yesterday. Now the date of your payment being received is
determining participation.
The list of current payments will be updated later today. SInce many late
registrants have already forwarded their payments, we expect the number of
available places to fill up in th course of next week at latest. The list
will then be closed and updated on TYPO3.org so that it reflects actual
participants.

Some more news:
After refurbishment, single rooms are no longer available!
Please don't forget to bring your own towel, (as any galactical hitchhiker
is aware).

##################################################################
- Security Patch

A security issue in TYPO3 was recently found. This exploited a flaw
(documented at http://typo3.org/1427+M58595ed0247.0.html?_maillisttofaq_pi1
in the mailing list) which allows cross site scripting, where a script on
one server is run on another. This flaw has been fixed, in version 3.5, by
the extension "BE user IP locking". For more information on this, please
read the thread referenced above.
