There will most certainly be someone to go cross-country-skiing with 
you. On the other hand La Grave is located in the "really high" 
mountains which are not that perfect for cross-country-skiing (steep 
slopes and ridges, narrow valleys,...).
You should definitely consult a map and check for slopes that fit your 
style of skiing!
Why not try alpine skiing?
